Session 1 – Anna’s story: Children and young people’s asthma
Wheezing in young children – Viv Marsh
Wheeze is a common respiratory symptom in young children and a frequent reason for presentation in primary care. Whilst wheeze is one of the most important features to ascertain when considering a diagnosis of asthma in children, not all young children who wheeze will have asthma, and care must be taken to get the diagnosis right. In this session, we will explore the relationship between wheeze and asthma in children under 5 years of age, and we will identify positive interventions to improve diagnostic accuracy and support families in general practice.
